About Spina Bifida
Spina bifida is the most common permanently disabling birth defect. Babies are born with their spinal cord open leading to a variety of permanent problems with leg movement, and bowel or bladder control. There are over 166,000 patients with spina bifida in the US and over 300 in San Diego alone. 1 in 1000 births are affected.
